The quick answer is 'No'. But I will attempt a slow answer.

I don't remember. But I will tell you what I think; NOT what I know because
I KNOW next-to-nothing.

I seem to recall that it is not simple. I remember something about
your having to send me the design and I would somehow modify it
so that it could not be edited but could be played. I do not remember
how this might work. The source code being open and freely available,
it is obviously impossible to keep secrets from a talented opponent
such as the CIA. I seem to recall that the encrypted files could
only be played with a specially prepared executable.

I recall that Zyx originally encrypted his Conflux.
He might remember more than I.

I am willing to attempt this feat if you are serious about needing
to encrypt your design. It may not even work with the latest
version of CSBWin. In any case, it will require at least several
hours of my time so I urge you not to make this decision without
good reason. I have always felt that it was best to provide an
open design so that people could use it in a way that they find
most valuable to themselves, not as you think should be most
valuable to them. There are undoubtedly exceptions to everything.

I looked at your manual and it looks very nice.

My take on the encryption, especially in this case, is that it is
already impossible to cheat. All the DSAs are ridiculously
complex. And the whole thing is impossible without a lot of
help. Playing such a game without cheating is nothing but
frustration.

And you could not have done what you did if Conflux had been
hidden from you.

Cannot argue with that only other to say this is likely to be the last hurrah of this so seems best to make it last?

Well, let me know if you make the decision to encrypt.
I'll see if I can make it work.

May well put it to the players, a vote when thread is open.

I enjoyed playing Conflux before it was eventually released decrypted, especially with Zyx and some others providing hints. Though I also enjoyed after it was decrypted too. Anyway I'd vote to encrypt, though I feel do bad it would take hours of Paul's time.

Sorry been away for a while (and again soon)
It looks like the first vote is in, thanks Antman but in the end Paul is the man with the final say.
Just have to see who else has an opinion on the subject I guess, Zyx would be an interesting one to ask...

I don't see the point of encrypting a custom dungeon. Just let people play your game as they please. If they want to enjoy the game without spoilers, they won't look. If they look and ruin their own experience, it's their choice. I vote against encryption.

Looks like it may be another 52% to 48% question, way of the world lol

Hello!

CSBuild has a full encrypt option in the File menu. I used it for the first years mainly because of the scroll contest which, all things weighted, seemed justified. Since I was active on the forum, people stuck in the dungeon could rely on me and other members to get personnal hints rather than edit alone the dungeon, which has been a enriching experience, overall. Still, it offended one person, which I regret. Maybe more. If there was another kind of contest, some time-limited encryption would be acceptable, I guess.

On the other side, as always intended since it's nothing more than a big demo, Conflux is now opensource, think of it as part of the Creative Commons. The goal is to allow promotion of DSAs, CSBwin, custom dungeons, this dungeon too, and the dungeoncrawling spirit at large! My free grain of sand to the cause, anyways. I couldn't have done it without many other members who gave of themselves. If we do the same, the flame grows.
