Key of B

More than 30 years after first playing Dungeon Master on Atari ST, I decided to complete Chaos Strikes Back. I played it before, but got lost on the first level so this time I read a walkthrough.
I ended up with 4 keys of B. According to the maps, they open some ways on the ful ya level, but I didn't need them at all. What is the point of getting them in the first place?

Well, why not? It's very easy to get lost in CSB, especially early on, so having multiple different copies of something scattered across the dungeon is a handy way to make sure that a player is more likely to find one. I usually end up wih tons of iron keys I never use as well.

What I meant is that the keys of B are a hassle to collect, but are only used on the fulya level to open an unimportant area http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/3dh/csb/default.htm?0,46,39

I always go out of my way to collect the 'Keys-of-B'. They allow me to
bypass the most difficult parts of the Ful Ya level.
They certainly are not difficult to obtain if you plan to visit all the options
available at the junction.

You don´t really NEED to do much to complete CSB, if you´re in a hurry.

Keys of B do offer an alternative route to Ful Ya pit. One of them at least.

Yeah the speed run record for CSB is around eight minutes, I believe? For DM it's more like nineteen.

CSB is very different from DM where almost all the keys were required to progress until the end.

DM is also far more linear, so you have to visit every level in order (barring that one backtrack) even if you don't stay there very long ;).
