Emoticons

Post by sucinum »

i just had the idea that it would be funny to add some dm-graphics (maybe resized a bit to fit) as emoticons.
just some stuff like :sword: :wand: etc.
i'd like it very much ;)
that's possible? (stupid question after i have seen what the admins here can do...)
anyone else would like this?

the chaos-guy looks quite nice, maybe a bit to large and animated for emoticons, i rather thought of symbols, saying these: http://dmweb.free.fr/DMItems.htm (not all of course).

but i really like the dragon :D
:dragon: <- i want to see this code like that Image the next time i return! ;)

Indeed amber is not the only one who'd appreciate that.

If there's a collection with reasonable amounts you can add them to the encyclopedia as a free download - would sure be a nice desktop variation.

well the firestaff I just got from the encyclopedia.. it's a simple matter of coppying th link. Though I'm not sure how christoph feels about that so I wouldn't do it as a habit unless he okay's it. That one is only about 243bytes but who knows.. could add up if you used enough of them over and over again.. (shrug)

We could change the phpBB code for it, it's easy enough, but there is a tick-box option when you post: "Disable Smilies in this post" -- just deselect that.

I'm surprised that nobody has made rune emoticons.

I noticed that there is the whole list of them at http://dmweb.free.fr/DMSpells.htm

I think most people know them by name here so it doesn't matter so much... especially since you'd likley be typing in the name of the run in order to get the icon in the first place :P

I'm still game to take part in this if someone wanted to make it work though

I've made some, the only problem I've had though is being unable to format them to have a transparent background. But if anyone else knos how to do that, it'd be cool.

what I meant was I'd be willing to make DM based icons like those you see above (chaos, dragon, etc) if someone made it work .. which most likley would be ZPC, Gambit, or Christope.. as those are the few mods I know have a firm handle on PHP and such..

Yeah it's easy to set up new smilies -- you can do it through the admin panel.
