Are you a DM nut?!

Post by PaulH »

Take the test, find out how addicted you really are!
Answer the following questions...

1) How long have you been playing DM?
a- Since I found this site
b- A year or two
c- Since the '80s
d- I was in the shops on the day of release

2) How well do you know the dungeon?
a- I still need to use maps
b- I sometimes get lost in the scorpion level
c- I could probably play it in the dark
d- I know the coordinates of every item of food

3) Do you have a pet named after a character?

4) Before you go to bed at night do you...
a- Clean your teeth?
b- Log of the website and shut down CSB4Win?
c -Set your Lord Chaos replica alarm clock?
d -Take of your armour and extinguish your torch?

5) When you eat your Sunday dinner, do you:
a- Eat it quick so you can get back to DM?
b- Make sure there is a water flask at the table?
c- Refuse to eat the chicken because it reminds you of rats?
d- BBQ your Mongor steak over a fire elemantal with the dragon spit?

6) What is your most hated monster?
a- The Dragon
b- Lord Chaos
c- None, I dodge them
d- They're all dead

7) Can you finish the game with one character?
a- I can't finish it with 4
b- Probably
c- Oh yes
d- What, you use more than one?

8) In a thunder storm do you?
a- Hide under the duvet
b- Watch in awe
c- Unplug your computer so your copy of DM doesn't get damaged
d- Rate each bolt of lightning from Lo to Mon?

9) Do you play any of the new dungeons?
a- No
b- Sometimes
c- All the time
d- I have them alphabetically archived

10) Finally, which one of the following characters is most like you?
a- Halk: Strong, hairy with a big club
b- Wu Tse: Technically a bloke, but I have breasts
c- Sonja: Long hair, agile and a nice gold bra
d- Gothmog: Mysterious with red eyes from playing DM all night

Score: a=1, b=3, c=5, d=10, YES=10, No=0

100: You either cheated or your name is Boris the wizard of Baldor

80+: You breathe eat and sleep DM. It invades very waking thought, you believe that Dragons once roamed the Earth and have a son named Stamm.

50+: You are officially an addict. You know the dungeons inside out and name your teams after members of this board. Your brain thinks in hex, you think you are better than every body else at this game and you have the chaos theory on a poster on your wall.

20+ You are normal. You like the game, play a few dungeons and can even remember that light spell without resorting to the cheat guide.

Less than 20: Go and play Eye of the Beholder as you are on the wrong site.

Looks like fun!
1: C
2: C
3: No
4: D (not armour and a torch, but swords, daggers, bow and arrows, and a morningstar get put away. Does that count as a D?) If not then B.
5: A
6: C
7: C
8: C
9: C
10: D (how did you know?)
My score is 51. Or maybe 49. Depends on question number 4. I assume that PaulH is the judge. What do you say Paul?

e- add some code to your DM editors.

how much points I get from this? ; )

Well, I think if you saw the demo dungeon I've just posted, you'll automatically put me in the 50+ category! .. : )

Of course I take off my armor before going to bed (well, except when I suspect there could be still any monsters nearby)!

Christopher: Yep, I think you deserve full marks for that.
Sphenx: That's worth 5 points I reckon!
Lunever: It sounds pretty scary where you live!

I scored 54 which is quite worrying.

A border line score! Maybe you should be classed as an occaisional addict, because you get withdrawal symptoms if you are away from DM for too long!
Every body puts D for the last question so...

e) Zed: An evenly balanced person, has a go at everything (5points)
or
f) Lord Chaos: Causes utter disruption wherever you set your feet, and has horns (500pts)

I actually like Gothmog a lot... along with Chani one of my favourite characters, which is why I found the start of Benjamin Prieu's "Enfers" very to my liking... (the rest seems a bit tough to me, but I'll give it some more tries)...

Well, if I think about it: The fact that I do have armor and a high quality bastard sword beside my bed is probably saying enough.

It seems that a lot of DM fans own weapons. I have a 5ft claymore, which possibly isn't the best comabat sword as I can hardly lift it.

Is your claymore a deco-weapon or is the steel good enough for show fighting? Do just have a sword or do you also practise swordplay?

I do not practice sword play, I bought the item for decorative purposes. However the steel is of very high quality and has been used in the past for show fighting but is poorly balanced. It hangs on the wall at my Dad's house.

I have been playing DM since its very earliest days on the ST, and yes I became addicted and have completed it many times using all the usual variations that you use to keep your interest in the game alive. I realised I had been completely taken over by the game when I started rotating the screamer slices in my back pack so I would eat the oldest first lol..... this was my indication that I had maybe crossed the line and become a DM nut!

Maybe because question 9 plays me out... Only recently finished DM, RTC and CSB and I'm now considering playing the custom dungeons, only I don't know which one to pick !!!!
