Ok, so I'm thinking of finding and emulating a copy of this game. My question is, how much japanese is in it? I can read/translate katakana decently, and can sound out hiragana but I don't actually know much japanese, so even though I can read it (slowly! At the local japanese grocery I'm always standing there sounding out the names of stuff like a 4 year old, as theres no english labels on anything unless it was part of the original package, while little old Japanese ladies look at me in disbelief and say "you read a very good Japanese" in a heavy accent to me), and know basic words/grammar/sentence structure (about the level of a 1st grader), I would have to be using a japanese/english dictionary (which I have). I only know about 50 kanji however, and its really hard to look up kanji unless you know all the radicals (which I dont).
if its like DM, with very little text, that would be alright, as I looked over the DM Nexus encyclopedia page and was able to read the champion's names, stats, and the names of the items decently. My main concern would be about scrolls, cuz I dont read kanji, so might get stumped at some of the puzzles.
Has anyone played it, and what did you think?

Re: Question for anyone who has palyed DM Nexus
I played the entire game and don't understand any japanese/kanji at all. I only needed help with the 4 puzzle alcoves, other than that you don't need to read anything (assuming you've already played original DM of course!)
Re: Question for anyone who has palyed DM Nexus
I beleive someone has translated enough fo the 4 alcove puzzle to solve it, right? I thought Sophia and others had made translations available for the DM encyclopaedia?

You can find download links here: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/251
Two years ago I worked on extracting the data from the DM Nexus files. See here: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... 43&t=28513
You can download my extraction script here: http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/DMNDataFileDecoder.vbs if you want to extract the data yourself.
This script can extract lots of data, including all the images and all the texts.
Here is an archive containing all the texts already extracted (open the .htm files): http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/DMNTEXT.7z
So you can see for yourself the amount of text in the game.
As I have decoded the file formats for texts, I know it is technically possible to translate the game to English (the fonts already include our alphabet). However I can't do the translation myself.
As you seem to have some Japanese skills, would you accept to do some translation work to English? As the text is already extracted, you can use Internet translation tools and dictionaries to look up kanjis (no need to know the radicals: you can use copy/paste).

Re: Question for anyone who has palyed DM Nexus
Great! Thanks, guys for all your help. And Sophia, thats so neat you speak Japanese fluently enough to translate decently. Thank you! I'm kind of jealous!
Id be willing to do translation, but I'm nowhere even close to being fluent *at all*, as most of my learning is self-taught and also comes from a Nisei(second generation Japanese) friend of mine who has been willing to let me pester her with questions and help me. So all I could give you would be a very basic translation. Although I've finally saved up enough money to take a yearlong Japanese course at the local college starting in summer, os Id feel more comfortable doing it then.

Thanks Sophia. What would be really great is to have a full translation of the game where all text is in english. This would give Nexus much more interest. Of course it is possible to play without understanding the text. But I would prefer understanding the scenario, particularly for RPGs.
