I think your only option is to use an emulator for the Atari ST or Amiga. I don't have a Mac and never tested this.
For example you can download the Amiga version of CSB here: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/591#toc18
And FS-UAE emulator is available for Macinotsh here: https://fs-uae.net/download#macosx

Re: Dungeon Master unreleased MAC version
There is an interview of Wayne Holder in the Dungeon Master II hint book "The Official Strategy Guide" (made in 1994) where mentions the Macintosh version of Dungeon Master that was never shipped. Check here: http://dmweb.free.fr/files/DMII-Scan-HintBook-TheOfficialStrategyGuide-Page138-Pa...

Re: Dungeon Master unreleased MAC version
The Apple IIgs had a 3.5" disk drive. Dungeon Master for Apple IIgs was released on a 3.5" floppy disk (http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/626#toc8) using the same 800K format as used on Macintosh (http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/1601) Maybe you saw an early preview/beta version of DM for Macintosh...

Re: Dungeon Master unreleased MAC version
By the way, as a member of SPS, do you have some insider information about any progress towards IPF releases of Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back for Atari ST and Amiga? I have reverse engineered all the executables (https://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29805) and studied the cop...

Re: Dungeon Master unreleased MAC version
FTL did port Dungeon Master to the Macintosh, but that version was never released commercially. I remember reading somewhere they struggled with issues to scale up the graphics for the Macintosh screen that had higher resolution than the other platforms that the game was ported to. Macintosh was the...

Re: Trying An Old One
This is actually a timed effect, the time is in the Fatigue column for each action in the same table. It is the amount of time the action icon is grayed out, preventing the champion from attacking again until this times out. The defense modifier applies only during this short period of time. However...

Re: Trying An Old One
As shown on http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/690 each action applies a defense modifier to the champion until he/she can perform another action. 'Stab' is indeed the worst for defense.

Re: The Black Flame
As far as I know, CSBuild can load both little and big endian dungeon formats, but CSBwin only accepts big endian format. I just tested with the CSBwin version available here: http://dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/Games/DM_Windows_x86-32_20171117.zip and it failed to load the original DM PC dungeon.dat fi...

Re: The Black Flame
TOC was designed as a CSBwin dungeon (big endian format). It is not a DM PC dungeon (little endian format). You cannot just replace the TOC dungeon file with any DM PC dungeon, CSBwin cannot load them (it only accepts big endian format because it is a port from the Atari ST version). You must play '...

Re: Back at it again
Let me add a few more details: - The wall on level 12 that seals off the way back to the upper levels is triggered by the pressure plate on the stairs between level 12 and 13 if you carry the Firestaff (the incomplete version or the completed one). There is no other way to close this wall. - When yo...

Re: Question about CSB Amiga versions
I just did, and yes I get the same results. I have checked the disk images with the 'Track analyzer' feature of HxC Floppy Emulator , and the copy protected sector has exactly the same content in each revolution (the CT Raw files contain 5 revolutions for each track). It should be different in each ...

Re: Question about CSB Amiga versions
OK... strange indeed. Maybe using save states causes trouble with the copy protection? Have you tried playing without them?
I could check in WinUAE emulator on Windows to see if I get the same results as you do. Did you use the English or the Multilanguage version?

Re: Back at it again
This is not a bug in the game engine itself. You may call it a loophole in the dungeon because the designer did not imagine that throwing the Firestaff would bypass the mechanism to prevent the player from going back to the upper levels. This was changed and fixed when they made the SNES dungeon, wh...

Re: Question about CSB Amiga versions
Trust me (I have studied the game source code), if the copy protection gets triggered, you will find out soon enough in the game. No chance of getting halfway withtout noticing it. Even so, if you have any issue, you can still load your saved game with another version of the game.

Re: What is the best map editor for Dungeon Master?
DMute can edit dungeons but not view/change other game data. Aren't you referring to ADGE instead? http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/1403 This is a very old tool. It will read game data from the Atari ST versions only. These versions store most game data in 5 binary items in graphics.dat (#558 to #562). ...

I suppose Lord Chaos' ability to jump over one square would allow him to jump over the creature teleporter at (24,39) to get to (24,38) where the teleporter does not apply to creatures.

Re: Some observations from a DM returnee
Check function F0303_CHAMPION_GetSkillLevel in CHAMPION.C. It is called twice in F0304_CHAMPION_AddSkillExperience (before and after updating the experience value of the champion) with a flag to ignore object modifiers . This means the Firestaff and other items have no effect on skill level up. In y...

Re: Some observations from a DM returnee
If I understand correctly, the monster attacking condition is satisfied (at least) when the monster is in the next square and is "chasing you" in order to attack No. Where did you get that? The criteria in the source code is only about the time elapsed since the last time a creature attac...

Re: Some observations from a DM returnee
Sorry I misunderstood the issue. If you want to fight really fast, you should avoid using the mouse and use CSBwin keyboard shortcuts. On a QWERTY keyboard, you may press Q, A or Z (first column of letters on the keyboard) to open the action menu of the first champion. Then press Q for the first act...
