Re: Constantly having to refresh???

I have found and fixed the issue, I broke some automatic redirection rules from http to https.
Yet this means you probably have favorites/bookmarks that are still using http URLs instead of https.
Please try again and tell me if still have any issue.

Re: Happy Birthday!!!

Regarding the DM release date, I settled on December 15, 1987 after reading conversations in this file: http://cd.textfiles.com/geminiatari/FILES/GAMES/DUNGEON/GENIE/CAT9TO74.TXT Look at messages from "Mon Dec 14, 1987" and later. If we trust dates and messages there, it means the first co...

Re: Quest for the Holy Scroll

Good idea, but I am not convinced yet because: - Given enough letters (and there are plenty), you can create nearly any word, including nearly any name - Why some letters would be used multiple times? (like the D of DENNIS / ANDY) - Why some letters would never be used? (like Q, X, ...) - Why includ...

Re: Dungeon Master for Apple IIGS 2.0 and 2.1 differences

You are right, there are no differences apart from the few I have listed in the first post of this topic (the list is exhaustive). So it really looks like it was a bug fix release for ROM03 computers. I wonder if the change about the mouse was made to fix another issue in some configurations or if i...

Thank you for all these details. Your memory is still very good after 30 years (probably the trauma of thinking your copy of the game was broken!). Your description of the issue allowed me to reproduce the issue: in my earlier tests, the emulator was configured with 8MB of expansion memory, and in t...

You may buy the Special Edition which has much improved graphics and sound while being faithful to the original (and you can switch at any time during gameplay between old / new graphics !)

:o too
Monkey Island is to adventure games what Dungeon Master is to RPG. Not the first, not the best but a turning point, an excellent balance of ingredients that make it an unforgettable landmark.

Thanks for reporting this.
I think I fixed the issue and you should not see "Not Secure" anymore.
Tell me if you still get any problems connecting to the forum.

Note: in Edge, I still see Not Secure message, this is caused by some avatar images (like mine) hosted on http and not https.

Re: Differences Between SNES Version of Dungeon Master and More Standard Versions of the Game.

How did you do this? Well, documenting all the bugs and differences between versions was one of my goals with ReDMCSB, along with a completed understanding of the binary items (558 to 562), and a complete understanding of the copy protection scheme. Once I had the source code for all Atari ST versi...

Re: Differences Between SNES Version of Dungeon Master and More Standard Versions of the Game.

To avoid the bug, there a (tedious) workaround: - Start by putting all items you are carrying on the floor. Then grab all items again and place them back in your inventory. This 'cleans' all items. - After that initial cleanup, each time you take an item out of a chest, make sure to put it on the du...

Re: Differences Between SNES Version of Dungeon Master and More Standard Versions of the Game.

This is a known bug that creates cloned items. This bug is present in all versions of the game and was never fixed despite obvious attempts in the source code. The developers were well aware of cloned items and thought it was caused by chest management issues, but failed to identify the actual cause...

Re: DM mechanics - Azizi through the mirror of dawn

You can compare with source code in ReDMCSB (http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/ReDMCSB_Release2.7z file MENUS.C, search for "case C032_ACTION_SHOOT" to find the code corresponding to what you describe). Based on your explanation, I agree the csbwin code does seem wrong there.

No need to play and guess, if you want to know the health of each creature then you can open the dungeon file in CSBuild.
You can extract the SNES dungeon from the ROM with this tool: http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/657

Re: Differences Between SNES Version of Dungeon Master and More Standard Versions of the Game.

'Base Health' is a value that is only used for Creature Generators, see http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/1198
The amount of health of creatures defined in the dungeon.dat file is defined by the dungeon designer.

You need an automatic (robot) method of doing this.
