You're half right.

This weekend is Rhapsody in Green, which is an annual summer festival where I live, so I'll probably not get any work done . . . as if I ever really get any work done. I am looking forward to doing some animations, especially death scenes.

Got bored with 3-D programming — actually, programming support classes — so I messed around with LEGO DM a bit more. I think I finally have a good spacing for the party layout. I put together a corridor tile with some 'indicator' plates on the ground for where characters and items will go. Here's a ...

I'm still contemplating that. ;) Truth be told, I have been working lately, and not just as a technician for the schools. Actually, I've been programming a 3-D modeling studio for LDraw, because none of those currently available have the features/user-friendliness I desire. But, it's a 3-D project, ...

Something helpful for LUA developers

This is a little bit off-topic, but it's relevant. I'd been peaking at similar projects for a while now, but this is the first I've seen that seems to have taken off. It's a LUA debugger for Visual Studio. Highlighting, IntelliSense, run-time debugging, all that good stuff. Thought someone might lik...

Burn your discs at a slower rate. Faster burning reduces the impression and leaves the discs vulnerable to natural wear. That's why discs made ten years ago with slower burners last longer than the ones you burn today. Longevity has very little to do with media quality. Personally, I never go faster...

I swear by Kaspersky myself. Small memory footprint (hovers around 15 MB, occasionally goes higher and very often dips lower depending on what it's doing) and is generally rated as one of the best, if not the best, commercial AV software in the world. I'm using Internet Security right now, but I kee...

I think Beo is right. It should be in a secret wall alcove right at the beginning of the second floor of the keep. As soon as you go up the stairs and enter the first room, take an immediate left and then turn left again and walk into the wall. The rainbow wand I think can only be bought at the affo...

My first post on the new forum. :D The best bit in Bloodmoon is where you kick seven shades of something out of the 'Uderfrykt' (spelling?) and then get to be a Nord chief. It's a shame there's no proper way to get drunk or I'd just sit around drinking mead with my warriors. Good stuff. I played Obl...

This really ought to be in "Other Games Like DM," but I'm appending to what Linflas wrote. Here are a couple working "Orcs & Elves" links: Trailer (1:06) GameTrailers Review (5:18) It does look pretty sweet to me, though I'm unlikely to ever play it. Not a big console/handhel...

The Witcher

I fell in love with this game almost instantly. It's fairly non-conventional for a CRPG, in that it isn't dumbed down. The alchemy system in particular really excited me, and while it's a bit too simple for my taste, I did have a lot of fun "strategizing" my ingredients and formulas. I too...

DM is a pretty versatile game. For example, most "experts" have adopted the stick-and-move technique to combat, whereas I always go with standup fights, retreating as necessary. I like having to feed my party; others see it as a tolerable hindrance. Some people prefer one puzzle over anoth...

No they don't. It takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. You never see the good deeds people perform because they're subtle. You always rue the bad things because they stick with you. Of course, perhaps my world is much smaller than yours. Either way, a thousand dollars of stuff isn't something I'd...

Thanks. Sound effects will consist of whatever I have available. I'm not too worried about that right now. What I'm trying to figure out his how to render separate parts in such a way that I can mix and match without the colors and shadows looking wrong. The lighting bleeds, see, which adds extra re...

Nah. Halo was pretty sizeable. I just finished Crysis last night and was severely disappointed in the length, or should I say lack thereof. Talk about anticlimactic endings. At least BioShock didn't feel like it should have been 50 percent longer. On the contrary, every time I thought BioShock was o...

Exactly. That's mostly why I'm still playing. There was about a week when I didn't bother, but when I have time to burn, I figure I might as well burn it over a few adventures. And it is a space station, by the way. I haven't seen anything to do with the pirates recruiting yet.

I'm hanging onto all my items. I mixed a couple eggnogs from scratch, but I'm guessing the one you got from the calendar had some sort of "innocuous" name like all the rest. That's not historically congruent. I'm thinking these things won't be quite so innocuous soon. Come to think of it, ...

It'll all be pre-rendered. Here are a couple more samples: Skeletal warrior and wizard (45 KB) Pirate captain and archer (47 KB) I'll work on a different lighting/background setup so it's more dungeon-esque. White is great for showing off the models but won't suit the theme. I intend to use shots li...

I dropped 106 piles of bones in the stash for anyone who wants to dig through them. Had all those adventures I wasn't using, so I figured I'd contribute something on my day off.

Edit: Never mind. Maybe I'll try to build one.
