Re: Building a new clone/enhanced version of CSB
Hi Christophe,
We are working on a source-faithful DM1 PC/V1 implementation and are
using the ReDMCSB source as the primary reference. There are two areas
where we would appreciate your advice.
1. Title animation timing / event schedule
From ReDMCSB we currently understand the PC/F20 title path ...

Re: Back to the source: ReDMCSB
That makes sense.
I agree that CSB benefits a lot more from in-game map support than
DM1, especially with the more maze-heavy layouts and hidden passages.
So when I get to CSB, I should treat keeping that functionality as a
real product requirement, not as an optional extra.

Firestaff: open-source Dungeon Master engine port
Hello everyone,
I've been quietly working on an open-source engine port of Dungeon
Master and Chaos Strikes Back, and the first milestone is now public.
The project is called **Firestaff**.
What it is
A deterministic, modular re-implementation of the FTL Games engine,
written in portable C. The ...

Re: Back to the source: ReDMCSB
Hi Christophe,
Your ReDMCSB project is extraordinary. The care you've put into
reverse engineering 36 versions of Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes
Back, and the depth of your BUGX_YY / CHANGEX_YY documentation,
represents decades of work that would otherwise be lost. Thank you.

Re: Building a new clone/enhanced version of CSB
Thanks, and thank you for replying.
By “ReDMCSB compatibility work”, I mean that I am analysing and reproducing original `GRAPHICS.DAT` behaviour in a compatibility/reimplementation context, using the original assets and trying to distinguish content-driven effects from engine-driven ones.

Building a new clone/enhanced version of CSB
I’m looking for any historical/reverse-engineering notes about **DM PC v3.4 `GRAPHICS.DAT` item 0312**.
In both DMExtract and Greatstone’s PC graphics DB it maps to **Wall Ornate 26 (Front) = Gold Lock**. In our ReDMCSB compatibility work, `0312` behaves unusually together with `0308` (Topaz Lock ...
