Re: The fake pit between Ku and Ros - bug or intentional?
Beginning CSB was extremely difficult to me. Working with paper pencil and eraser scissors and scotch tape, I had many map parts I was not able to assemble. I was completely lost because of the silent trigger pads at the four way junction. It took me ages to figure out how to paste together my small...

Re: The fake pit between Ku and Ros - bug or intentional?
I am pretty sure I did. That was very long ago, but I do remember a bunch of dragons and the powertowers. May be I got stuck on the way down, then entered Ku later the right way from a saved game. I spent more than two months in this dungeon completing the game whitout any hint or clue, but the hint...

Re: The fake pit between Ku and Ros - bug or intentional?
I doubt we will ever know. I think it is intentional. To give more ways to complete the game. It did happen to me. I was enable to enter Ku because I managed to kill the four knights fighing toe to toe, not moving backward which is the normal way to enter Ku. So, I visited Ku, thanks to the fake pit...

With the spell to see through walls one can detect hidden areas.
Mapping does help too.

Re: [RTC] Dungeons Matter released
Have arrived at the Chaos level and the difficulty bar has just been raised. Am hating rust monsters, so keeping well away and taking them out with fireballs. Right, watch for rusters and don't let them come close. Once rusted there is no way to unrust. I made the mistake to save, not aware I had b...

I wonder wether the trick of throwing the equipped firestaff over the door still is intentional or a bug.
Looks more like a bug to me. There is no rational way to figure that out ! How was that found ?

Don't mind carrying stuff. There is a place with unlimited water and food. A place, handy to dump all of your stuff. I like to travel light with leather outfits only. About the rune you are missing, you can find it with the editor using the source code. I presume it is the Max rune, that I missed to...

Do we have 3 games ?

_Dark Reign 1
_Dark Reign 2
How do they relate ?

Canyon is challenging.
Sure you need access to the chest.
May be there is a prerequisite: Passing a door with a pit blocking the entrance. One must find the trick to close that pit.

Re: Dark Reign 1
Dark Reign 2. I think I remember the starting maze with teleporter hazes. A bit stiff for a start. It asks for careful mapping and patience. It is not too large, then next is easy going for a while. Dungeon Matters. Not sure, where you are with darn pits. The canion ? The spiral path ? There is a si...

Re: Dark Reign 1
I did not get stuck in Dark Reign 2. Well..not much ! May be a bit harder, but with logic of the kind seen in DR1. I had a couple of places difficult, but logic and willingness gave me the answer. One, I remember, I was stuck a couple of days, but it was not that hard finally, once I found the simpl...

At the time we had CSB, the most gifted of us, had internet over ( RTC ) the switched telephone network at 33kb/s. ( May be less 14.4 kb/s ).
Sure you memorized the music it made while dialing then connecting, with the feel wether it was going to hook up or fail repeating attempts.

Re: Chani sent me here
Have you had a go at CSB yet? Yes! I did play CSB, maybe about ten years ago.... Since the exploration and puzzle solving were my favorite aspects of the original game, it just didn't have the same appeal to me. With that said, I did persevere and I finished the game, albeit with lots of help from ...

Re: [RTC] Dungeons Matter released
That was long ago..... I remember a pad beyond a door. A pad far away hard to see. The trick is to throw or shoot something on the pad. Or, the trick to fall at a specific trap to find or activate something. All in Dungeons Matter from Outch is highly logical, consistent in his thinking. Guess the a...

Re: Favourite and least favourite level?
Considering the unforgettable first time I played DM, every level is the best. At every level, it looked impossible to make it through, then was a great achievement to make it. Up to the end, the question was, how far will I be able to go ? That was at a time, it was doubtful someone had ever found ...

Yes, I am aware of how good DSB is. I had a go at it a couple of years ago, indeed it is very interesting. Thanks to using LUA it opens to unlimited possibilities. Just with what is offered by the editor and examples, you already have more than with RTC and no need for brain warping. I did not go ah...

Vorpal blade disrupting is more effective with high wisdom characters.
With two of them in front, that's the way to deal with the materializers.
There is a spell to make boosting wisdom potions.

Re: (RTC) New Dungeon! Surgical Strike (2.2)
Indeed, it is amazing what dungeons designers have been able to achieve with RTC. A lot of guessing from an undocumented and unfinished product. Tons of workarounds to cleverly extend it. I did not have the patience. I fancied great stuff but once at some high complexity, I had too many unexplained ...
