Re: Now that RTC is no longer updated, now what?
I'm still here - lurking away :D Real life keeps getting in the way, but I still have every intention to return! As Gambit says above, there's a candidate V0.50 which fixes several of the bugs that have been reported; it's just a question of finding time to polish it up a bit more and fix some of th...

He posted and said he'd be busy for a few months, but didn't say if it was like 'woohoo, new kid' kinda good busy or 'so much work at work I will never see daylight' busy Both! Still alive, still checking the forum once in a while, and still accumulating a whole pile of emails that I *really* will ...

Can anyone else confirm this bug, or is it just happening in my custom dungeon? It's just your dungeon (unless anyone else can prove otherwise!), so I don't think this is a bug with RTC. For example, if you enter the DM dungeon, take two mirror characters and kill one of them off, the items they dr...

Nope, they can't be removed. It is a indeed a huge pain in the ass, but George Gilbert (RTC programmer) said it wouldn't decrease loading time if they weren't there due to things being loaded while the animation is happening. Exactly. If I removed the animations, then it would still take about the ...

*enormous*; well over 10,000 items My Conflux savegame has 17,808 objects in addition to about 30,000 dungeon cells. Maybe we should give up converting it to RTC? As above, it turned out not to be a problem with scalability. Checking through the code, RTC scales to 10.2 million dungeon cells...

yes, I finally sent a file to George... lets wait and see what it brings... That's great thanks - solved the problem straight away. As it turns out, you were right all along and I was wrong  - it is a specific item that's causing the crash. On level 2 at coordinates 24,47 you have a door fram...

Apologies - Real Life has been busy! I had a quick look and your dungeon is *enormous*; well over 10,000 items  It's quite likely that you're hitting some internal limit but I can't reproduce the crash because I don't have the graphics / sound files that the dungeon depends on. Can you send m...

Re: Remove member from party action
...seems to behave quite randomly when it chooses who to remove, even though im sending the member back to their mirror, sometimes it chooses someone else! In RTC *any* action is performed by the person who triggered it. For example, if the party leader clicks on a fountain, it's the leader who dri...

Done for V0.50George Gilbert wrote:All that said, I've only ever seen the bug occur with some types of files (not including OGGs), so what I can do is to pass the memory straight to FMOD if it's an OGG and go via a temporary file if it's not. Not ideal, but it will get rid of an unnecessary pause for some files...

loaded and ready to go immediately when you really need it! Based on what you wrote above, this won't guarantee that the file didn't get corrupted in memory, so you're back to square one, surely? - The corruption occurs when you have the sound file in memory (e.g. after extracting it from an RTC fi...

George's answer was that the problem probably wasn't RTC, but instead the Windows sound drivers or FMOD. However, DSB uses both FMOD and the Windows sound drivers and has no delays in playing ogg files. In addition, I've written other ogg-using programs and had no such delays. So, I think there is ...

As for the offsets themselves, they are all the offsets relative to the thing they appear ontop of. For example: - The offset of a background is the offset relative to the 640x400 screen. Info screens or Title screen OVERLAY images are not relative to their background, they are relative to the canv...

I mean, why does the utility use offsets relative to its background when nothing else does? That's not true. For example, the position of the sleep /save / sound / quit etc icons in the inventory screen are all defined relative to the inventory screen - not relative to the whole screen. As I said b...

Any insight to be had here about the thread subject? As Linflas has already pointed out, the reason for the default being 640x400 is because that's (double) the size used by the original game. As for the offsets themselves, they are all the offsets relative to the thing they appear ontop of. For ex...

Hmmm - still can't reproduce the problem, even doing exactly the same steps as you suggest. Looking at the diagnostic file, it's exactly what I would expect it to be (i.e. it's spotted that the file size doesn't match the text) though, so I would hope that it's correctly written out the error to you...
